A Flow Chart is a pictorial representation of a certain logic. It could be drawn for a simple C(or any other language) program and vice-versa. It consists of various mathematical figures such as rectangle, parallelogram , rhombus and cylinder.

Cylinder is used for opening or closing the flow chart.

Parallelogram is used for displaying anything.

Rectangle is used for initialization, calculation etc.

Rhombus is used for Condition checking.

Certain connectors are also used in high level programs.

Flowcharts are the pictrorial representation of a program. Different types of shapes are used to represent a flow of a program. A rectangle is used to write the processing for eg: calculations as a+b, A oval is used to write the start and stop of the program, A parallelogram is used to enter the input values. Flowcharts minimize the complexity of a big program and it is understandable even to a person with non IT knowledge.
