The 2007 versions of Microsoft Office suite introduced an XML file format, which actually has more than one file, but then all of these files are compressed, using the ZIP format, into a single file. The file extension has an X at the end. So while previous versions of PowerPoint had a .PPT extension, the new format has .PPTX extension, to denote the new format.
You cannot access Power point in MS Word. They both are different applications of the same company.

You cannot change the format from Office 2003 to Office 2007, the technology was not out then. But you can make a RTF document that will open in Office 2007. Click on File/Save as/click on the arrow to open the drop down list/ choose RTF
