Thus a friendly-fire accident or incident is one in which an officer or fighter or asset is mistakenly injured or damaged by a weapon fired from another member of one's own force.

Well its fairly obvious... as long as there has been weapons and 2 sides, if someone on their own team attacks another person on their own team it is classified as friendly fire. Friendly meaning someone on their own team and fire as in attack.
