It is the surgical creation of an opening to the middle portion of the small intestine (jejunum), through the abdominal wall
Pancreaticojejunostomy is a surgical technique used for treating chronic pancreatitis.
The technique involves a longitudinal incision along the pancreas while the main pancreatic duct is filleted open from the head of the organ to its tail. The duct and pancreas are then attatched to a loop of the small intestine (Pancreaticojejunostomy) which is then oversewn to the exposed pancreatic duct to allow it to drain. Pain from chronic pancreatitis is either lessened or eliminated.
This procedure is preferred over a similar procedure known as 'Frey's Procedure', because a Pancreaticojejunostomy allows the pancreatic tissue to be preserved, which is critically important in patients with exocrine or endocrine insufficiency caused by chronic pancreatitis.
Pancreaticojejunostomy is also known as the Puestow Procedure.
From what little I can gather, it is when they move a pancreatic duct or the common bile duct, apparently in the case of a blockage.
Gastrojejunostomy is surgical creation of an artificial opening between the stomach and jejunum.
Percutaneous Endoscopic Jejunostomy
If able put tube back in stoma
No, if you are incontinent of stool, you get diapers. If you have a colostomy or jejunostomy, you have a collection bag that adheres to your body to collect feces.
Jejunostomy is surgical creation of an artificial opening into the jejunum.
Is 1.0-4.0
A gastrostomy or g-tube leading out of the stomach in order to help prevent nausea and vomiting.
The procedure depends upon the nature of surgery: Gastrostomy if it involves the Stomach, ileostomy or jejunostomy if it involves the small bowel, colostomy if it involves the large bowel, and ideal conduit if it involves surgery for urinary diversion
V44.1--Gastrostomy status I would recommend the use of this code since it is inserted into the stomach. A gastrostomy is an artifical opening into the stomach. However, some recommend the use of V44.4--Other artificial opening of gastrointestinal tract. I, on the other hand, feel this code is best used for Jejunostomy status, and would not be appropriate for NG tube status.
An enterostomy is the surgical creation of an artificial opening into the intestine.
Nutrients, either a special liquid formula or pureed food, are delivered to a patient through a tube directly into the gastrointestinal tract, usually into the stomach or small intestine.
