Oddly enough, I had a 1909 $2 1/2 gold piece appraised a few hour ago today (9/8/08). The appraiser asessed mine as in uncirculated condition, and estimated it at $250. Hope that helps!

Newfoundland $2 gold coins were struck occasionally and only during the period 1865-88. If you have an 1885 coin it might be worth around $200 to $250 for its gold content.
