Resolution varies from 15 meters to 1 centimeter depending on the source. Above states ground resolution, not pixels. But pixel resolution would again depend on source.
The spatial resolution of a sensor can be defined as the area of ground imaged by one pixel. High spatial resolution means each pixel represents a small square of ground, so it is easy to identify tiny features in an image. Spectral resolution is the width of the regions of the electromagnetic spectrum that a sensor will detect. High spectral resolution allows material identification through a characterization of its spectrum.
If by resolution, you mean the closest pair of stars that can be seen in a telescope, it is purely a function of the size of the mirror/lens. You can calculate it as 134÷D where D is the diameter expressed in mm or 4.5÷D where the diameter is expressed in inches. So for my 12 inch Meade Telescope the resolution is 4.5÷12=0.375 seconds

A satellite photograph is a photograph or image taken by earth orbiting satellite with special high resolution cameras. The GeoEye-1 satellite has the highest resolution of any commercial imaging system and is able to collect images of the Earth with a ground resolution of 0.41 meters (or 16 inches) in the panchromatic or black and white mode.
