North Korea has a communist Dictatorship (one of the worst you'll find!). The country is led by Kim Jong-il, the successor of Kim Il-sung, and is thought to soon be led by Kim Jong-un ( Kim Jong-ils son...if you get where I'm going )According to some sources (although from what I've seen, these sources are truthful), 40% of the population are starving, because of famine and the countries reckless expenditure on less important aspects such as military and their 'dear leader'. Also their corrupt leaders. They spend millions of USD on their military, and for example, their recent supposedly 'nuclear' weapons test used enough money to feed their country for a number of years. North Korea has also got concentration camps spotted around all over, with an estimated 200,000 people inside them. This is mainly for minor petty crimes such as listening to south Korean radio or putting your coffee mug on the leaders picture in a newspaper etc...however, most die in these concentration camps, and if they do not die, they endure enough suffering to almost counteract their 'privilege. They are not part of the UN and have weak connections to allies... who wants to be allies with a country that only wants aid? I forgot to mention that Kim Jong-il has stopped accepting aid so that his Juche regime doesn't look like it's failing (which is so obvious from outside). Their economy is dead and to survive, people have to live off the bear minimum. All in all, it's not the sort of place you want to live!! Sorry for the long answer, but I'm quite interested in NK. !
