A wisp, common place in European stables in the last century, and taught today as a proper grooming tool by the USPC and professionals is a handmade tool used to slicken the horses coat and remove sweat, dirt and mud. It is fashioned out of hemp rope, straw or hay that has been long cut and twisted into rope. Although not widely used in the United States it has many benefits to removing saddle marks after a work out when bathing is not an option at shows and after rides. Diagrams to create a wisp can be found in the USPC manuals and in Grooming to Win.
Thick hemp rope will work and if you don't have pets or very small children around then glass stucco (2 inches wide) around the perimeter of the house (same as the hemp rope.) Snakes have soft under-bellies and don't like the feel of either of these products. In some places in India they use hemp rope. The best way to get rid of the snakes is to make sure your back yard is not Snake Heaven. Keep the clutter down. No piles of wood or leaves, nothing they can nest in or hide under. Keep the grass mowed so they don't get comfortable hanging out in it. Also, take care of any rodent or insect problems quickly. If the snakes are migrating to your yard, they've probably got a good reason. A buffet line starring roaches and mice is one of the best. by kady barrie 8 years old

Marijuana was used as a drug (as a medication). No one knows if they ever had smoked marijuana. Marijuana was one of many plants normally used in medicine. It was usually placed in alcohol (perhaps with other plants and other drugs). It is likelythat it had been smoked as a medication. The recreational drug of choice was alcohol, and sometimes cocaine dissolved in alcohol. The occasional cocaine use was usually used by women. A common remedy was sold to relieve women's menstrual cramps. This remedy was usually alcohol and cocaine. Women became addicted to the cocaine, and started to use it recreationally. These remedies were legal, as was marijuana.HEMP (not marijuana) was widely used. Hemp seed oil was used in lamps. Hemp was also used as food (mostly for animals). Hemp was also made in to cloth and was used in making sacks. ALL rope on ships were made from hemp. ALL sail cloth for sails on boats was made from hemp. The first Levi's were made from hemp cloth. Hemp was a major & vital plant. It was law that Hemp be grown. During WWII congress mandated that farmers in the Midwest grow hemp for making hemp rope. Remnants of those seeds still grow today (feral hemp). Feral hemp has less than 0.1 percent of THC. It will not make you high but you will be arrested for possession. Both hemp and marijuana are illegal. Both marijuana and hemp hurds (stems, roots, and fibers) are believed to be toxic if eaten**I was only able to find one reference on eating hurds. Hemp (hurds) are used as a source of cellulose fiber. It would be about as safe as eating a tree.
The plural form of hemp is hemp.
Hemp is the material used (from the very fibrous Hemp plant), and Macrame is type of textile-making (style) using knot-tying instead of weaving or knitting. So you COULD use hemp fibers to decoratively knot macrame items.
