Chickens loose a lot of their feathers and then (in most hens) dont lay eggs for a couple months.
Molting is the loosing of old feather growing new. Most hens stop laying during this process.

its molting, no biggy, just loosing its feathers and growing new ones back. your chicken will have feathers again in about 2 months. it happens almost every year
