There are many factors that contribute to this: Elaborate on the households setting, for instance, is it rural or urban. Also the structure of the household, is it just one person living there or are there six!! There are loads of different things that will change the expenditure patterns of a household. The income level of the household will effect the expenditure too, in simple terms, the greater the income, the more the household will spend! For Instance a poorer household will spend most of there money on basics like food whereas a richer household will spend money on other commodities as well including luxuries such a a gym membership or a MP3 player. Dont forget there are social issue that will influence too like, race, gender and age. Hope this helps. sorry i have been brief
