How can a person have no corpus callosum and has no history of neurological problems?

Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum does not occur because of other neurological problems but may occur in conjunction with other disorders. Often when it does occur with other anomalies of the brain, the disorder of the corpus callosum is overlooked. Individuals may have complete agenesis (C-ACC), partial agenesis (P-ACC) or a disorder of the corpus callosum (DCC) such as it may be thin. Researchers at the University of California, San Francisco have found that approximately 1:4,000 people have a disorder of the corpus callosum. The exact cause has not been determined because but the condition is frequently seen in individuals with fetal alcohol syndrome or genetic anomalies. Deletions of specific genes have been associated with ACC; approximately 20% of all individuals with a corpus callosum anomaly have a chromosomal duplication or deletion.

Can congenital mirror movement syndrome be associated with agenesis of the corpus collosum?

My daughter has congenital mirror movement, and my personal study affirms that it can be asociated with the corpus collosum. My daughter had some sort of brain injury during her birth that caused her to have mild cerebral palsy. As best we can figure, her MM is related to the CP. Among patients with MM, quite a few also have cerebral palsy. For those who don't have CP, many of them have corpus collosum abnormalities. I have been doing some research looking for effective therapies for MM and I often find articles mentioning agenesis of the corpus collosum. Look up "mirror movement" on your search engine and peruse the scholarly articles--you may even want to subscribe to one or more of the scholarly journal websites. You can normally peruse their abstracts for free, then you can choose to subscribe for the full article. These have been quite insightful for me.
