The Citadel of Trials is a series of floors containing items, monsters, and a Rat's Tail, which you give to the dragon king to evolve all your characters.
Bahamut the Dragon King is an important character in Final Fantasy. He upgrades your party's classes if you have the Rat's Tail from the Citadel of Trials, strengthening your party and granting you access to more better equipment in the game.
You must find the Rat's Tail at the Citadel of Trials, east of the Cardian Islands (they have a bunch of holes in them) and take it to Bahamut (he's in one of the holes in the Cardian Islands).
Once you complete the Cloister of Trials at Bevelle, you cannot go back.

Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy IX.
If you mean the bonus areas from the Advance version, then no, these are not carried over to the DS version.
The Final Fantasy character called Tseng is from Final Fantasy VII, not Final Fantasy VIII.

Final Fantasy X-7? no. there is Final Fantasy 10-2 which is the sequel to Final Fantasy 10 (and is the only actual sequel in all of the final fantasy games) and there is Final Fantasy 7, but there is no Final Fantasy x-7. the games may be made by the same people but do not relate to each other in anyway other then the fact they are Final Fantasy.
you need to get the rats tail from the citadel as a test of your bravery and courage. After you get it go to bahamuts lair and he'll upgrade your classes. this is permanent and cannot be undone.
Dissidia Final Fantasy. (Unless you are in Japan)
