The thing that makes gum chewy is...gum. Chicle is a natural gum, a form of latex, tapped from the rubber tree. This gum is used in the production of commercial Chewing Gum.
Gums themselves are chewy because of their thickness (viscosity).

I heard that it contains rubber (which makes it chewy and ever-lasting) and talcum powder. (which is what my friend told me)
Yes, all gum contains... you may not want to eat gum after hearing this, but gum contains horse fat. I am not joking with you. It's gross isn't it? It's what makes the gum base chewy. Yuck! I've been chewing gum and swallowing gum for years and now a couple weeks ago I found out. Makes you think twice, huh?
Guar gum, cellulose gum and in some flavors xantham gum

bubble gum
Bubble gum comes under this category. You can chew bubble gum for a long time
Chewing gum base is a natural gum called chicle harvested from the sap of a tropical tree called a sopapilla tree. This kind of gum is chewy but it will not blow a large bubble. Bubble gum base, on the other hand, is a mixture of starches and polymers made in a laboratory and specially formulated to blow bubbles.
Any thats not too hard or chewy! If you chew gum make sure it's sugar free (you dont want to get gum stuck on your braces!).
