The manufacturer places a best-used by date on the packaging. The store doesn't do that. The date provides a time frame where the manufacturer figures it will have the best flavor and texture.
Nope! CFA definitely is not Hellmann's. It isn't bad, maybe it is Kraft. Hardee's/Carl's uses Duke's as does Firehouse Subs. McD and Wendys uses some nasty brand.
They are both made by CF Sauer, but I can't verify if it's the same formula. One of the superior aspects of Duke's taste is that it has no sugar. From my research, it appears that Bama has no sugar, either. These may be the only major brands lacking sugar. eg Best Foods, Hellmans, Kraft, Blue Plate, JFG

In doing research online about this, it seems that store bought mayo, like Hellmans, is fine because the eggs used are pasturized. SO go ahead and eat. However, you shouldn't make home-made mayo (who does?) and should also avoid any softcooked or raw eggs.
