What is disaggregation in production planning?

It is the process of breaking the Aggregate Plan down into Greater Details. It is similar to the process of resource allocation. For example, the aggregation plan tells us how many laptops to produce but it does not indicate how many of them should be with black cover, and how many will be with red cover. The disaggregation plan is important in production planning because it assigns specific details to each product which can investigate the deep costs related to each product easily. It is needed in the operating level of the organization where specific details are needed.

Why might a manufacturer change from batch to flow production?

atch production is the manufacture of different version of the same basic product in batches (eg. different colour, types of paint, different varieties of jams etc) There is some repetition of production which is for stock (rather than to order). Production is not continuous. Change-over between batches means that resources are idle at times. Consequently, production managers have to plan production schedules to minimize changeovers. The machinery employed will be specialised for production of the firm's products, but yet flexible enough for different batches. Flow Production requires specialist machinery. Because of the high capital investment requirement, it is essential to achieve high level of utilisation. This requires a high level of sales of a fairly standardized product made for stock. Flow production links up with a strategy of undifferentiated marketing whereas batch production suggests that the product is tailored to suit the needs of particular customers or segments. The manpower required is specialist, but low in skills and performing repetitive task as compared to batch production where the levels of skills required are comparatively high. The great advantage of line production is that with long production runs unit costs will be very low as compared to batch production.

What is a example of flow production?

car production...e.g. mini coopers..lol..:)

What is a intermittent production process?

Producing several different products on the same production line. After an initial production run has been made with one product, a second product will be produced, and so on. It allows maximizing productivity on the production line. allows maximizing productivity on the production line.

What are the advantages of batch production?

The advantages of batch production is that it can reduce initial capital outlay. It can be useful for small businesses who cannot afford to run continuous production lines.

What is a production plan?

Production plans and work schedules are important planning tools in batch and mass production. The production plan should set out information about all the stages of production, so that every product is made to the same quality.
