Fuel is gonna be youre big issue. Youre truck is fuel injected which has a higher fuel pressure than carburetor. Heres a link to a camaro site on converting from FI to Carbed.

just about the only thing you have to do is get a intake that is drilled for vortec heads or put a set of pre 87 heads on it. I just did one in a truck and the two center intake bolts on the throttle body motor go in straight and they go in on a angle on the older motor.
No a bad muffler shouldn't, but a clogged catalytic converter will.

1) bad bulb - try switching them 2) bad ground
you have a bad control module, and check that coil resistance, cause they will fire but not how it should!! should be a good strong blue spark, if not replace it!
