I have two answers for you. Medications can have effects on some people that are the opposite of what they were intended to do. This is called a paradoxical reaction. So if you are having this reaction to a medication then yes it could cause insomnia, and also stop taking the medication and check with your doctor asap. Secondly, if you have been taking the antianxiety medication for a prolonged amount of time consistantly, and then stop taking it you can be suffereing from some withdrawl effects that may keep you up.
