The British during the Revolutionary War.
Why did the US back the French in their fight against Ho Chi Minh
No
Yes in WWII against the Japanese who had occupied some of the Islands. It must be pointed out however that the Aleutian Island campaign was an all Army invasion force. The Battle of Attu was an all US Army battle against 2,900 Japansese defenders and the Battle of Kiska saw 5,300 Canadaian troops joined with the US Army force. The Japanese had already evacuated Kiska when the invasion began. So while a few US Marines were present, there were no Marine Corps combat units involved and the vast majority of Marines involved in the Aleutian Campaign were members of ships detachments.
The Cubans put missles in the dominican republic, and sent troops there. So we went to fight communism
