1990 geo prizm It was making a grinding a noise and then a knocking noise The mechanic said that the axle was broke Both sides got fixed and now its still making the same noise but worse?
i would get the transmission checked it sounds like your torque converter

On the radiator you have a top hose and a bottom hose. Look at the bottom hose and follow it to where it attaches to the block. Unscrew the two bolts. There is the thermostat.

wow exact thing with my 2001 prizm, this rattling has been going on for over 3 months and havent been able to figure out what it is yet. Some people say its an alternator bearing or a pulley. Im gonna send it in to the dealer soon and hopefully when i find out ill let ya know!

Sounds like a slipping belt. Could be a component not turning, or turning too slowly.
