First of all, let's get one important concept established. Energy is energy, and there is only one kind of energy. The only difference between what some people call positive or negative energy is point of reference. If the energy is coming towards you then it is called positive, and when it is moving away from you it is called negative. If the work that is done is constructive, then people tend to call it positive energy. If the outcome is destructive, they call it negative. In both cases, the same energy was used, just the results differed.
Here's an example. If you build a house, it is a positive result. But if you tear it down, it is negative. You still used you muscles and tools to do it, just the final result was different. But, now if you tear down an old building and erect a bigger and better new one, then was the tearing down negative or positive? See what I mean?
The same thing happens to electricity in circuit boards. They get bigger and smaller, diverted into different directions, stored and released, over and over again. The most important thing is what it made when it finished. If it made your mp3 player play your favorite tune, then you'd probably say positive. But if it didn't work, then somewhere the circuit is not directing the electrical energy to a positive result, music, but instead no music. Again, the same energy is being used, just the result may not be as 'positive.'
work done on the system: when a surrounding does work on the system the total energy increases so work done is positive..........
The elastic potential energy gained by the rubber band is the work done by you in elongating it. Positive work is done on the rubber band, so it gains energy. While work is done by you (i.e. negative work is done on you), so you lose some energy. The total energy is conserved. In simple words, the energy gained by the rubber band is the energy lost by you while elongating it.
Work done by the system is considered as PositiveWork done on the system is considered as Negative
There are different conventions as to what work is negative and what work is positive. The convention used by engineers and physicists is that work done BY the system on its surroundings is positive while work done ON the system by its surroundings is negative. Chemists reverse these conventions.
Electrons are given energy because of the work done by the attractive or repulsive force, when they reach the place where they meet positive charges, they give off (release) their energy.

If work is done on the system then it has a negative sign. If work is done by the system then it has a positive sign.
Any force can produce work if it causes displacement. If displacement is in opposite direction of force, work done will be negative and if displacement is in direction of force work done will be positive. If there is no displacement, work done is zero. Eg: Gravitational force pulls you down towards earth, in pulling you down it does work on you which gets stored in form of potential energy. Energy for A+
POSITIVE work is done when the direction of displacement and gravitational force is same. This makes an angle of zero degrees. Fd?FScos0 equals +1. The work done is positive.
Positive.
