Simple columnar epithelial cells are single layered, tall and skinny, Think about the shape of a column.
A surface covered with one layer of compactly arranged tall cells would be a layer of simple columnar epithelium. This is commonly found in the GI tract.
(1) A nerve cells long extensions reach out in various directions to enable them to receive and transmit impulses. (2) Dead Skin Cells flat shape enables them to cover the surface of the body well.(Page 71 Holt Modern Biology Textbook)

Simple = One layer Columnar = tall (column like) cells Epithelium = Lining, covering, and glandular tissue Simple columnar epithelium = A single layer of tall cell tissue

Ciliated columnar is a type of cell. Ciliated means that it has tiny hairlike projections on top of the cells that are usually used to capture unwanted pathogens and bacteria before they can do any damage to the body. Columnar is simply the shape of the cell. The cells are tall and skinny, shaped almost like a pillar from a building.

Palisade mesophyll cells are tall and closely packed to absorb maximum light. They contain many chloroplasts. Most photosynthesis takes place in the palisade cells. Spongy mesophyll also captures light and makes food.

There are some shapes of different cell in which three can can be define like this EEpithelial cells, which can be squamous (flat), Columnar (tall & skinny) or Cuboid (Squarish).Term papers
The epididymis is lined by a pseudo-stratified columnar epithelium that contains two types of cells - principle cells and basal cells. Principle cells are tall, columnar cells topped by many, long, thin microvilli called stereocilia.
