it's a word that's always been used in my family, we are of scottish descent but that was a long time ago. in my family, gommick means "yuckiness" etc. for example, "I got a bunch of gommick stuck to my shoes when walking in that dirty movie theater."

we also use it figuratively - so if someone is talking a bunch of nonsense, we would say it was all a bunch of "gommick."
