3 parts per million (ppm) is measurement of the volume of chlorine in the water for every 1million litres of water there is three litres of chlorine in suspension. To effect sanitation a residual of 1.5 ppm is required, pools are dosed at a higher rate because the chlorine dissipates in sunlight and a 3ppm dose guarantees sanitation and leaves a residual of 1.5ppm as the sunlight degrades the chlorine.

In compounds it is taken in by the body and used for several things, in the form of chloride, but pure chlorine is usually harmful to tissues. It is an important part of salt.
hydrochloric acid
Halogen elements are part of Group XVII. They have seven electrons in their outer shell. The halogen that is most associated with bleach is chlorine.
Combined chlorine is when the chlorine molecule has attached itself to other molecules in water. In other words it has "combined" with something else in the water. Those could be iron, manganese, ammonia or other things depending on the source water. Free chlorine is the molecules that are "free" in the water to do the disinfection.

We need chlorine to help form hydrochloric acid in our stomachs because chlorine is a part of the element of hydrochloric acid
The word "adding" is part of a verb. (ex. I am adding two equations. Your verb would then be am adding)
Swimming pools must have a certain amount of chlorine content. The United States standard for safe levels of chlorine in swimming pools is at least 1 part per million and no greater than 3 parts per million c is greater than or equal to 1. c is less than or equal to 3
It is part of the diatomic elements
one part Hydrogen, one part chlorine. Hydrogen chloride.
Chlorine rapidly kills E coli bacteria. At a concentration of 1 part per million (the minimum level recommended for swimming pools), chlorine kills E coli in less than one minute. At 200 parts per million (about one tablespoon of household bleach in a gallon of water) the kill time would be less than a second. See the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website: http://www.cdc.gov/healthyswimming/chlorine_timetable.htm
I do. Use half as much. Pool chlorine is 12.5% sodium hypochlorite Laundry bleach that I use is 6% sodium hypochlorite. Sometimes I dilute the pool chlorine by one part water to one part pool chlorine and use it just like regular laundry bleach.
