it refers to metal color on trigger and safety
look on top of pistol, just behind ejection port and you will see date it was made
a K date luger was made in 1934 and a G date luger was made in 1935.....

on top of the luger, where the barrel goes into the receiver ther is (usuaally) a date. On the left side of the frame, just down from the date is the serial number. Usually not more then 4 numbers
if you look at the top, over the chamber, there should be a date.............
look on top and you will se a date. that is when it was made.
The lower the serial number the younger the pistol is
