Ethyl Mercaptane is C2H5SH. It is a sulphur containing organic compound. It is added into LPG so as to detect any leakage of LPG. The Pungent smell that comes from LPG is tht of ethyl mercaptane, otherwise LPG is an odourless gas.
Mercaptane is added to natural gas; this has a strong smell and an escape of methane can be easily identified.
There is a gas in it called methane, that is what makes it smell :)
Natural gas has NO odour - the 'smell' is added during the refining process so that you know if there is a gas leak !
The wahing soda and cleaners we use contians a chemical named sodium hypochlorite. eating friuts like banana and mango help to decrease the increased bloob pressure by activating the potassium and sodium chanels present in the cell membrane. Turmeric has an anticancer agent. the smell which we get due to gas leakage is because of the compound ETHYL MERCAPTANE, other wise lpg i.e.mixture of ligth and few hydrocarbon is oudorless.
