First, you need to determine if the the mic is even on. Open your "control Pannel" and locate your "sounds and audio devices" double click the icon. In the box that opens, select the "Voice" Tab. Below the mic settings there is a button "test hardware" This will check your configuration and allow you to set up the mic and volume settings. (mic sensitivity) You should be ready to use it now.
