Pontus is in the southern part of the Black Sea. During the Apostle's time, it was an important province in the northeastern part of Asia Minor, lying along the south shore of the Black Sea. Some believe the 'Lost Ten Tribes of Israel' along with their Assyrian captors had begun migrating to this area and further northwesterly into what is now Europe. You may read of 'Pontus' in The Bible Book of Acts 2:1; 18:2 and 1 Peter 1:1.

Why were kings in The Bible?

Kings are mentioned in the Bible for a couple of reasons. One is put a timeline to the events. Before the modern day calender (ie: years like 2010), events were recorded according the what king was in power. But I believe the most important reason is to prove the validity of the Bible. Many events in the Bible can be found in the records of secular historians of the time.
