Franchisor will grant it's franchisee the rights to develop a pre determined number of units within a defined territory say 3 units or 5 units, etc, and typically grants them some measure of exclusivity as long as the schedule for opening these units is met

With a multiple unit franchise it will be required that the owner is actively involved in the day to day operations of the business
