What is my HP dv9000 second hard drive problem I have a dv9408nr HP Pavilion Laptop. I bought a second 160 hard drive and the notebook is not detecting it and functioning weird when it is inserted?

The problem might be due to the new drive being SATA-II, with a 3GB interface speed, which apparently the HP dv9000 series can handle in the first hard-drive slot, but not in the second.
I found that I could install my new 250GB Seagate Momentus - ST90250N1A1AS - drive into the first drive slot and it worked fine. I used the Windows Restore Disks to install windows onto it, then installed Ubuntu-Jaunty as a dual-boot OS. However, it would not work at all in the second slot, and caused the computer to hang.
With a search, I found an article at FixYa, http://www.fixya.com/support/t276963-trouble_adding_2nd_hard_drive_hp_dv9000 which identified this problem, and near the bottom there is even a convenient link to a diagram showing how to jumper the drive to limit the interface speed to the SATA-I speed of 1.5 GB per second, http://www.seagate.com/images/support/en/us/cuda_sata_block.gif .
