how do you change the battery in a 2002 jetta keyless entry pad?
eBay
If you can't find programming instructions you can get a programming guide from iKeyless.com
You can use the two keys to reprogram the car remote of 2000 VW Jetta.
I had a 1998 Jetta, but I don't remember if they had remote entry. If it does, buy a remote entry blank off of ebay. Then, go to the dealer with the VIN and proof of ownership and have them cut and program the key. If it doesn't have remote entry, just talk to a dealer. Like you said, your son has the "Valet" or "Sub Master" key. Take it to a Locksmith and he/she can cut your son a new master. Ilco blank# X203

With a VAG-COM, or get the dealer to do it.
-I was to;d that only the dealer can do it.They need to send to Germany for a new code and then they reprogram the remote.
Open and read your owner's manual. The info to answer this question is there. With your door closed press the "lock" or "unlock" button on the remote for one second. Then insert your key into the drivers side exterior door handle key entry and turn the key either left or right to unlock or lock the door (doesn't matter which). It should be reset. If it is a new keyless remote, you have to take it to the dealer to have it programmed. It costs about $45, no matter how many keys you have done. And, they tell me they have to "get online" with Germany to do it, so if you need a spare, buy it before you get programming, because they charge you every time. This is probably the best way to get a spare, because if you have a key made outside of the dealer, it may work, it may work for a while, and then stop, OR, it might cause problems with systems in the car. I have a friend with a Jetta that made the mistake of just having a key cut by a locksmith. The car does some really weird things, like the W/wipers operate off of the turn signal switch. This only happens if he doesn't have the key turned just right in the ignition.............
Insert main key into the ignition lock & switch on the ignition (do not start car). Using second key lock the vehicle from the outside manually (use key in door lock). Hold door locked for 15 seconds. Release key. Press unlock button on the remote control one time, wait at least two seconds or more. Press unlock button on the remote control again, wait at least two seconds or more. Manually open car using key in door lock. Remove key from ignition. Test your remote.
