First off lets correct the question, I am sure you meant OBD. This stands for On Board Diagnostics. What this is, is a standard diagnostic computer program in your ECM or ECU. In 1988 if I remember correctly, Toyota started to use this for a Tech to help Diagnose sensors and runability problems in car. A few years later the the FEDS made manditory for all vehicles to run this type of computer. OBD 1 is the first edition of it and it is very limited, OBD 2 is a more advanced system. Ever wonder what that plug was under the steering wheel of your car? Well, that is the port to hook into your cars ECM. When they made this system mandatory on cars it opened the doors to what we know now as Chipping your car. This system is now on OBD 5 or 6 now, I havent been in the loop on these for a couple of years so I am not sure how advanced it is now.

If you want to disuss some things about it let me know.
