Factors would include:
Speed to Catch - Faster animals would be more adapt to catching prey.

Flight or No Flight
Eyesight
Abilities to Stalk Prey
Specialized Organs such as a jellyfishes tentacles.
Almost any characteristic of an animal can be used as a factor to determine how it catches or attracts food. These can be just shear size, strength, or stealth.
you can tell by the teeth. Sharp teeth are for meat, flat teeth are for plants.
How does the animal get food?
Some types of whale is certainly one example.
An organism obtains food and resources from its habitat.
It means an animal that preys on other animals lower on the food chain. Basically, a consumer animal is an animal that doesn't produce its own food, and obtains energy from another organism. Technically, every animal (that I know of) obtains atleast some of its energy from another organism. Only plants make their own food from chlorophyll, but PLEASE don't misunderstand this part: plants can't make their own energy.Plants convert energy from the sun to glucose.
A predator-consumer needs another animal or plant to survive. However, the food chain never ends; one animal preys on another and so on.
