Endoplasmic reticulum is like a transport and manufacturing pipeline, for many biochemical compounds. Endoplasmic reticulum function is dependent on its type. There are three types of endoplasmic reticulum, which are:Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum (RER)Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum (SER)Sarcoplasmic Reticulum (SR)
Two types of Endoplasmic Reticuli exists, the rough endoplasmic reticulum and the smooth endoplasmic reticulum. The rough endoplasmic reticulum is involved in the synthesis of proteins -{from through}- VIA the ribosomes embedded within its structure. The smooth endoplasmic reticulum is involved in the synthesis of lipids and steroids.
The rough endoplasmic reticulum is covered in ribosomes and helps produce most of the proteins. Smooth endoplasmic reticulum does not have these ribosomes, and is almost solely for producing lipids.
There are two types of endoplasmic reticulum in an animal cell. The rough endoplasmic reticulum is responsible for making proteins. The smooth endoplasmic reticulum is responsible for synthesizing steroids, phospholipids, and lipids.
The reason rough endoplasmic reticulum is coz of ribosomes. The ribosomes cover the surface of rough endoplasmic reticulum and make it appear bumpy under microscopic magnification. Ribosomes are the sites where proteins are created from amino acids. Rough endoplasmic reticulum is connected with the outer envelope of the cell nucleus. The following are the main functions of rough endoplasmic reticulum: 1)The prime rough endoplasmic reticulum function is the production and processing of specific proteins at ribosomal sites that are later exported. 2)As I said before, rough endoplasmic reticulum function involves, creation of two types of proteins. One is the type which fortifies and gets embedded into the reticulum membrane. The other types are water soluble membranes which after creation at ribosomal sites, pass through the membrane and into the lumen. 3)The function of rough endoplasmic reticulum doesn't end there. The proteins that enter are further processed inside, the proteins are folded into the right three dimensional shapes and carbohydrates may be added. 4)The next rough endoplasmic reticulum function is to transport these ready proteins to the sites where the are required. They may also be sent to the Golgi bodies for further advanced processing, through vesicles.
There are two types of ERs--smooth and rough. The smooth ER has a lot of functions, but the major one is the production of lipids. The rough ER's major function is the synthesis of proteins from ribosomes that are studded around it :)
Endoplasmic reticulum is found in the cells of eukaryotic organisms. Endoplasmic reticulum is a type of organelle. Endoplasmic reticulum has two different types smooth or rough.

The smooth endoplasmic reticulum and the rough endoplasmic reticulum.

Endoplsmic Recticulum. There are two types of ER. The rough and smooth ER. The rough ER is dotted with ribosomes.
Endoplasmic reticulum is an organelle present in cells. There are 2 types: - smooth endoplasmic reticulum - rough endoplasmic reticulum The rough endoplasmic reticulum has ribosomes on its surface whereas the smooth one doesn't
These two endoplasmic Reticulum functions are strictly internal to the Cell - all Organisms are comprised from Cells and the Cells composition is based upon the ongoing constructive activites of The Cellular Endoplasmin Reticulum - both Types.
