The mirror is slightly convex (domed outward). This gives the mirror a larger viewing area. The trade-off for this larger viewing area is that objects seem smaller. One way to think about it is that you are viewing more stuff in the same size mirror. To fit more stuff in your view, the stuff you are viewing must be smaller.
One word would be mercenary.

In Google Docs, you can choose other users to view that specific file, but when it just says that you are viewing it and you don't see any other users listed, then it no one else can view it besides you. This makes it private only to you.
Yes it is because it is a public viewing, you need the written permission of the studio that produced it, or buy a license for public viewing from the studio itself (But that costs quite a lot) As opposed to the original contributor's answer above, it depends on who can view the movie. A "public viewing" is one that is open to the public. However, if you show a movie at work and those in attendance are all employees, it is then a "PRIVATE" screening/viewing of the film.
