A parish priest is the main priest in a parish. He is responsible for running the parish, so he may have to deal with more practical things, like doing the accounts for the parish. He will also have his normal duties as a priest. Other priests in the parish may help him and they are called curates.

Should I keep Emergency Food in my pantry?

For emergency situations, it's best to keep all emergency supplies in one place, like an emergency case, trunk, or bag. In the event of an emergency, you might not have time to rummage through the pantry. Store non-parishable foods in there and if there is room, replace one to two jugs of water every few months. If you do decide to put emergency food in the pantry, make sure it is in a very easily accessible and noticeable box.

How did people live without a fridge?

Before, everyone had to go buy food at a store every time they were hungry. It consumed a lot of time and energy. Now, people can just walk to the kitchen, not the grocery stores. In a sense, it was simpler. People obtained food locally - grew it themselves or bought from local farmers. Fruits and vegetables were seasonal, so people would put up whatever they could - canning, drying, pickling, preserves, jams & jellies - for later use. Root cellars provided adequate storage. Iceboxes were also used. People were more frugal with their food. If they weren't planning to preserve any food, they just butchered, harvested or bought what they could use. Uses were found for everything. People understood where their food came from and had a different respect for it than they do today.
