β 11y agoI think you mean the Pavlov dog experiment. In a nutshell, a guy named Pavlov taught his dogs to drool at the ringing of a bell and bragged about it in front of his friends... why one would brag about a drooling dog beats me. What he was trying to prove is the foundation of operant conditioning, that a dog is more like a machine then a living being and if you push the right buttons, you will get whatever you want out of them.
Basically to teach his dogs to drool on command, he would ring a bell right before feeding them a stake. After they started salivating when they heard the bell, he weaned them off the stakes. Eventually, he was able to have his dogs drool for his bell ringing with no stakes in sight.
