Many people have found the story of George Washington Carver's life to be inspiring. He was among the first people in America to demonstrate conclusively that African-Americans should not be relegated to second-class status, and that they can make very important contributions to America, and have abilities that go beyond routine farm work. Of course by the present date, in the 21st century, we have a great many other people who have demonstrated the same point, including our current President. But Carver was a pioneer. He accomplished things that few people in his lifetime expected that a person of his ethnicity would have been able to accomplish.
