Permanent storage is basically any form of storage that retains data even when it doesn't have a power supply. A few examples:
rom chip
DVD and RAM are not permanent storage devices.
floppy disk
yes
There are 3 types of permanent storage, aka secondary storage, on a computer: # Hard Drive # CD # Floppy disk
Hard Disk
Hard disk drive inside the PC, CD or DVD drives/disks, USB (thumb drive, jump drive), and floppy disk drive/disk storage. Other storage can be external Hard disk drives, tape drives, RAID drives and the newer Blu-Ray.
A device for permanent data storage. It consists of many non-magnetized disks which are hard.

The hard disk drive, or a solid state drive in some computers.
RAM is not permanent storage, so nothing can be saved to it. It is just working memory where you do your work until it is saved. Then it is saved to storage like a hard disk or a USB drive or other storage device.
disk storage-> direct data access storage tape storage -> serial data access storage
There are three types of internal storage devices mainly optical, semi conductor and magnetic storage. Compact disk is an example of magnetic storage whereas silicon chip is an example of a semi conductor storage device.
