Phishing is a type of cyber attack where a scammer sends fraudulent emails pretending to be from a reputable entity to trick individuals into providing sensitive information such as passwords, credit card numbers, or personal details. This information is then used for malicious purposes, such as identity theft or financial fraud.

Will a feature in your email allow you to activate a virus associated with an attachment?

Because of so many Viruses being sent by email, Email host has stopped allowing certain files to be uploaded. If a file has a .batch, .exe, .zip, .rar, and many other formats that contain programs being able to run it is blocked from being attached to the email. It is nearly impossibel to get a virus from an email. HOWEVER, People can still send you emails with phinishing websites. Such as a social website they know your on. They will copy the PHP file of the website (Like facebook) and give you the link. When you click the link it displays what you think is facebooks sign in page. When you entire your details its send to the Hackers server and saved. You will be given an error page or redirected to some random website. This is not done often but can and has occured before. The best advice is don't go to links given to you by someone you don't know. If sent an email by someone claiming to be a Host you have signed up with (like facebook) always go to the website yourself and sign in to handle whatever is needed of you. This will ensure that if infact the host contacted you (in this case facebook) you will have delt with it in a safe and secure manner.
