The purpose of pickling and flushing of pipelines is to identify the gas leaks and to avoid the gas leakage accidents, For instance the location of A to B new gas pipelines has to install for service, gas contains some amount of tery butyl mercaptan (TBM)(high odorant component), it reacts with pipeline inner porous materials is having matel oxide to produce the disulfide , this disulfide is less odorance than TBM, so the odorance will be vanished due to gas flowing in long pipelines, so pre-odorization methods have three types 1. Injection of highly odorized gas (over 40 ppm)

2. Slugging, i.e. pouring a bulk amount of liquid odorant directly into the pipeline and letting the pipe "pickle" for a prolonged

3. Continuous injection of controlled dosage the determination and regulation of the size, frequency, and number of doses.
