A profanity is the improper use of a sacred or divine name to express strong usually negative emotions such as anger or fear.

Language or gestures that demonstrate irreverence, contempt or disrespect towards groups of people or religious beliefs. Language or gestures considered coarse, vulgar, obscene or otherwise offensive.

  • swear word
  • bad language
  • four-letter word
  • rude word
  • vulgarity
  • expletive
  • vulgarism
  • Sexually explicit, vulgar, or obscene language.
  • Racially, ethnically, or religiously offensive language.
  • Language that exploits minors.
  • Defamatory language.
  • Language that constitutes a threat.
  • Language that represents violence.

Essentially, any word, gesture, or action that anyone, anywhere could consture as unacceptable is profanity. To be safe, consider the context and venue in which such are used to define what is and is not profanity for any given situation. It's basically just a bunch of christian pro-censorship Propaganda.
