Nader is basically getting to the lowest level of cells in the bone marrow. If cancer is suspected, you irradiate and give chemo to kill off all cells in the bone marrow, because you suspect they are diseased. Once you do this, you have wiped everything out and reached nader. At this point, you are extremely high risk for infections due to the lack of almost all protective cells. You may then give donated bone marrow or stem cells in the hopes that these new cells will proliferate and grow healthily within your body. After 5 years of no cancer cell growth, you enter remission.
