There are so many types of candles. When you say a regular candle, it has to be the most common form of candles. It could be a uncolored paraffin taper candle. That is the most common type of candle. When the paraffin is not colored it is slightly yellowish. A colored candle burns in a different rate depending on the color used.
Someone might want to use an electric candle instead of a regular candle to reduce the risk of fire hazards. Also an electric candle will last far longer and not have to be replaced like regular candles.

Candle clocks had several disadvantages, including their reliance on the consistent burning of the candle, which could be affected by factors like air drafts or variations in wick thickness. They also provided only approximate time, as the rate of burn could vary based on the candle's composition and environmental conditions.
