These things on the small intestine wall look like fingers called villa. The food(after it's been broken up into small enough pieces), are able to pass through the villa into the inside of it where it gets absorbed into the blood stream. Then the food/drugs & medicine/liquids/etc are transported to the parts of the body that need fuel, etc.
