The mechanoreceptor reflex is composed of the inflation reflex and the deflation reflex. The inflation reflex limits the duration of inspiration in response to stretching the walls of the lungs. The deflation reflex stimulates inspiration when the lungs are collapsed. Mechanoreceptor reflexes are insignificant during quiet respiration but they are very important during forced respiration. The mechanoreceptor reflex makes sure your brain knows when to stop breathing and start breathing, basically.
The organ responsible for breathing is your lungs.
The organ responsible for breathing is your lungs.
Emphysema is a disease of the lungs that makes breathing very difficult. It is caused by excessive inflation of the alveoli.
Your diaphragm is the muscle beneath your lungs that expand and retract, helping pump oxygen in and out of your body.
To prevent over inflation of the lungs.
the lungs fill with air because the diaphragm (a muscle that runs underneat the ribcage) moves and causes the lungs to inflate
There is no organ responsible for protecting the lungs (one may argue the skin), but the ribcage plays a large (if not the largest) role in protecting the lungs. The diaphragm is the primary muscle for breathing and the intercostal muscles (between ribs) are secondary respiratory muscles.
It's a muscle located under lungs, responsible for creating a negative pressure when it contracts, thus creating a vacuum in the lungs which gets filled with air.
lungs
There is no real statistic about death from inhalants, but they are definitely harmful to the body, especially to the lungs. Hurting the lungs is a very dangerous thing to do, since the lungs are responsible for the life-sustaining act of breathing.
