What is rolling admission in college?

Most colleges/universities will have a set deadline for when students must apply. And some will have a few set deadlines: Early Action/Early Decision and Regular Decision. And that means that all applicants MUST submit their apps by a specific day and time.

For schools that offer Rolling Admissions, rather than having all applicants submit on the same day, they open up their application period for an extended period of time. Applicants can submit their applications at ANY point during that time, and the school will review applications (and accept or deny students) as they come in.

If you decide to apply to a school with Rolling Admissions, it is a good idea to submit your application as early as you possibly can. Since spots in the program will be given away every day, the sooner you apply, the better your chance of getting in! (More spots = a better chance.) If you wait until the end to submit, most of the spots in the class will already be gone and your chances of getting in can go down.

Just make sure that whenever you apply, your application is the BEST it can be. In other words, don't rush an application (and sacrifice its quality!) just to get in early. Make sure that you are proud of what you submit, and feel confident that it is your BEST work.
