I was always under the impression that the sales tax in Paterson, NJ was 3%. When I went to buy a used car they wanted to charge 7%. Is that correct? Thanks!
Everytime I have bought one.
One of my buddies bought a car in GA and he ended up paying for sales tax. I'm not sure if it applies for all.
zero percent if bought from private party. %8 if from dealer or business.
If you live and register the car in Illinois then you will pay the Illinois car dealer for the sales tax. If you live in a different state than where you bought the car the dealer might collect the sales tax if the two states have a cooperative agreement. If the states do not have an agreement you will pay the sales tax when your register the car.
Used cars dealers will finance their sales through a number of different ways. Advertising can be bought, and the simplest way is just by selling these cars.
is it required that I pay Minnesota sales tax on a car purchased from my mother
Yes, you still will have to pay sales tax on the vehicle in the state in which you bought it. There is no way to avoid sales tax.
The interest on used car loans are definitely higher than new car loans. The rate is higher because the car is usually not bought from a car sales house
No. The sales tax was applied at the time you bought the car in the states, and has no relevance to what one does with that car in future years.
"Due to the economy many used cars are being bought over new trucks. However this differs depending on company. Sales in Ford trucks, and Japanese campanies like Toyota are equal in their new and used car sales."
The sales tax for a used car as of 2011 is 7.72%
If you buy a used car in a state that has sales tax, you'll have to pay tax on it before you can take possession of the car. Whether you intend to export it or drive it around he town where you bought it, tax is part of the purchases process and must be paid.
