The best way to prevent flea allergic dermatitis (FAD) is to keep up with monthly flea treatments using a decent veterinary licensed product (e.g. Stronghold [selamectin], frontline [fipronil], advantage [imidacloprid] etc). It is recommended to use adulticide treatments (ones that kill adult fleas) as it is the adults which are causing the allergy. If you have any other pets it is recommended that you treat these regularly too as this will prevent spreading fleas from animal to animal or introducing them into your house. If your animal has had fleas recently you should also treat the house with a licensed product (e.g. indorex) to kill any eggs and larvae which are present in the carpets and soft furnishings. It may take multiple treatments to get on top of the issue so don't give up half way through! It will often take 3-4 months to fully eradicate fleas as the pupal stage can remain hidden in carpets for many weeks to months. Using a vacuum cleaner prior to the house treatment could encourage pupal stages to 'hatch out' which will make the spray more effective.

Only clean your rabbit when it is stained, never bathe them! Baths can be dangerous for rabbits - see the related question (linked below) for details. Also, if a rabbit is dirty, that means something is wrong, and it could be sick. If the rabbit is just a little stained, put Witch Hazel on a cotton ball, and rub off the stains. Every month, you should groom your rabbit and give him (or her) a physical exam. This way, you can keep the rabbit clean and healthy, and catch signs of illness or injury before they turn into emergencies. When the rabbit is moulting, you should brush him every day so that he doesn't eat too much fur. (Unlike cats, rabbits can't vomit, so when they get fur-balls they can get very, very sick.) Do not ever wash your bunny it could kill him . Instead spray the rabbits cage/hutch with flea spray and don't let the rabbit in for 24 hours. Brush it with a flea comb daily and drown the fleas in water. If you use stuff to rub in the fur use Advantage only Advantage it is the safest product to use on rabbits . For dwarf and really small rabbits use 1/2 a dose . The rest use 1 full dose. make sure if u do use advantage its best on adult rabbits more then young rabbits.
