Self-Inflicted emotional pain would be if you are hurting yourself with some kind of self-inflicted measure - maybe cutting in order to feel pain or to deal with an emotional pain you can't actually 'see'. Maybe you can't let something go or you are just hurting yourself more over something that shouldn't hurt you as bad as it does. Or another possibility would be you just feel you don't deserve happiness and continue to make yourself more down by thinking things that aren't even true.
