Need to know who made it, what it is (rifle, shotgun, handgun), caliber/gauge, barrel length in order to even begin to help.
Not really
really old!! or fake or homemade <><><> Serial numbers on rifles and shotguns were not required by law until the 1968 Gun Control Act. I have a few dozen in my collection that have never HAD a serial number- and yes, it is legal.
without more specifics on the gun (condition, gauge, barrel length, etc.) all i can really say is that serial number is for a gun manufactured in 1927
Impossible to answer. Serial numbers are NOT unique to only one gun in the world- or they would be REALLY long numbers.
Yes it is illegal to own a gun that does not have a serial number. It is also illegal to remove the serial number off a gun.
This sounds really odd, but there is a possibility that there are two Auto 5's made with that serial number - no kidding. If the serial number is on the left side of the receiver it is an American Browning made in the USA in 1941. If the gun serial number is on the bottom or the receiver the gun is a Belgian made gun manufactured between November 1957 and April 1958.
Impossible to date a gun with just by the serial number alone.
No way to answer. A serial number is not unique to only one gun in the world.
You've got a post war gun. That's really all the info there is.
The serial number is on the frame.
Gun Registration...
With just the serial number, nothing.
